Christmas Katieisms

Katie kept us very entertained during the Christmas holiday. Here are a few of our favorites:

1.) We were eating dinner on Christmas Eve. We had stuffing with our ham and Katie told us that she "leave stuffing for Santa." We said that you do not leave stuffing for Santa, you leave cookies and milk. She said "oh, so no stuffing?" She thought Santa was feeling like he needed something new for Christmas!

2.) We put Katie in bed on Christmas Eve and I sat in the rocking chair feeding Ian. Katie said to me "Santa take Mommy's new car?" I asked why and she said it was to "bring presents." I told her that he had a sleigh and reindeer to bring him to deliver presents. She said "oh, so he no need Mommy's car?" She thought he could use a new mode of transportation!

3.) Also, while Katie was in bed on Christmas Eve, she said "oh shout" (we never heard this before). I asked what was wrong. Katie said "I forgot my phone" (Daddy had given her his old iPhone). I told Katie that she didn't need a phone for bed and she said, "okay, I get it in the morning."

Christmas Day

We had a great holiday at home this year and Katie really got into Santa this year. She left him cookies and milk on Christmas Eve (with a note) and was very excited to come downstairs and see what presents were left for her. Our children are very lucky little ones with all the gifts that they received!

Christmas Eve

Poor Ian got tired waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve!

Katie and Ian exchanged presents on Christmas Eve. Katie loved opening the gifts and was very excited when Ian opened her gift!

We started the holiday hat wearing tradition by wearing our crowns from our Christmas crackers.

Baking Cookies

Santa

The town has a Santa during the Christmas season. Mommy went by last weekend and saw that there was no one visiting Santa so we decided to run Katie over to say hi to Santa. She yelled "Hi Santa" the whole way up to his little house and told Santa what both Ian and she wanted to Christmas!

More Katieisms

Some of her recent ones:

- Mommy and Katie called Daddy at work one night before bed. When Daddy answered, Katie said to me, "Mommy, you talk. I too shy." She is such a funny kid because shy is definitely not a word we would use to describe Katie!

- Katie was "talking" on her phone the other day. I asked her who she was talking to and she responded, "I talking to my banker." She then told me that she needed to "move money." I then said, to our babysitter, "where does she get this stuff?" to which Katie responded "Nanny and Pop-pop"!

- I went back to work on December 5th. When Katie woke up on the first day I was at work, she asked the babysitter what I wore to work. She told Katie that I wore a skirt and Katie responded with "oh, no pajamas?" Later she asked the same question and responded with "oh, no exercise clothes?" Apparently she was very concerned that I did not dress appropriately for work!

- We were all laying on Mommy and Daddy's bed this weekend. Katie wanted Daddy to sit next to her so she told him to "find a parking spot."

Two Bottom Teeth

No wonder our little guy seemed miserable - both of his front bottom teeth broke through within 24 hours last week (starting on Wednesday). He seems pretty happy with himself for getting through it!

5 Months

Ian was 5 months on the 9th. He is rolling around now, getting better at sitting up (with some help) and loves to play in his stationary entertainers. He is a happy little guy (when not in pain from teething) and has a great little laugh (which you can usually get him to do if you kiss his neck).

Side Sleeper

Ian loves to sleep on his side now! As soon as you put him in his crib, he rolls to his side. He takes after Mommy for sleeping. Here is a picture of him on his monitor.

Countdown to Christmas

We made a calendar to countdown to Christmas. Katie glued the pictures to our calendar!

Advent Calendar

Today was the first day for the Advent calendar (which Uncle Charlie and Aunt Carolyn keep very well stocked for us)! Katie was very excited to take out the gift for today. There were ornaments for Katie and Ian and she quickly ran to the tree to put them both up!

Happy Baby

Christmas Tree

We put up the Christmas tree on Sunday. Everyone helped with the decorating!

Phone Calls

Katie likes to make a lot of "phone calls" on her play phone. She seems to "call"
everyone and talk about everything - including the weather ("it raining outside"), what she is doing ("paying (aka playing) with my bag") and Christmas ("we decorate for Santa").

Happy Thanksgiving!

We enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving at home this year (and even bought the whole meal). Katie even enjoyed some sparkling apple juice with dinner and loved it!

Elmo Slippers

Nanny and Pop-pop sent us gifts and treats for Thanksgiving. Katie got Elmo slippers as a gift. She loves them! She wears them around the house and then leaves them at her door at night before bed. When she wakes up, she tells me that she needs her Elmo slippers to walk around.

I Love My Feet!

Hotel

Katie cannot be around anyone who is sick until she is done with her treatment. When Daddy felt sick on Sunday, Mommy decided to take the two kids to a local hotel to get away from the potential germs in the house (Daddy disenfected the house for us when he started to feel better). Katie kept saying that we were in Ohio (I am not sure where she got this!) and loved the continental breakfast that the hotel provided the next morning. It was a long night with two kids who wouldn't sleep in their beds but an interesting adventure for all of us. Fortunately Daddy felt better the next day and cleaned the house for us to be able to come home!

Deep in Thought During Playtime

What Do You Mean It Is Gone?? I Want More Applesauce!

Someone cannot get enough of his new baby food! He has had sweet potatoes and peas also and has loved everything so far.

Missing My Big Sister

Katie kept asking about Ian while she was in the hospital and wanting to see him. Ian sent her this picture to say hi and would call her and babble into the phone. It made Katie's day to hear from her little brother.

Sick Katie

We had to take Katie to the hospital on Sunday the 6th. We thought it was for in infected lymph node or abscess in her neck. It turned out to be a diagnosis of Kawasaki disease. We spent a week and half in the hospital with our poor little girl. She had a very difficult time, between not feeling well and a lot of IVs and tests, and she was a brave little girl throughout it. She is starting to feel better now and we keep praying that this is going to be a quick road to recovery for her (and that we never see another hospital again for a sick little one). Thank you to everyone who helped us through the difficult time, whether it was praying for her recovery, sending her gifts to brighten her day or helping us with Ian. We cannot thank you enough.

Rolling Over!

Ian learned how to roll over on Saturday, November 5th! We are amazed at how big he is getting every day.
